Connecting to different buildings and structures
HighStep offers multiple adapters to connect with different kind of buildings or structures, such as towers, pylons, masts, poles, shafts or storefronts.
Pre-assembly
The pre-assembly takes place in two stages:
• Pre-assembly of the rail holding point and spring bracket sets
• Pre-assembly of the Rails
Pre-assembly of the connecting points
The HighStep Rail is attached to the supporting structure using both the rail holding point and the spring bracket sets. These two sets can be pre-assembled on the ground for each holding point. The example shown here is for a holding point on a lattice tower, which also requires the angle profile adapter.
Pre-assembly of the rails
A rail connection profile is attached to the top end of each Rail. This will later be used to connect two segments together.
Assembly
Step by step assembly sequence
The pre-assembled rail holding points are bolted to the transverse struts of the lattice tower. A good attachment point is where two transverse struts cross in the centre of the tower wall.
Assembly of subsequent rail segments and final work
Once the rail has been adequately secured, the erector can insert the HighStep devices into the rail, attach himself to them and climb up. When he comes to a place where a holding point is to be mounted, he rivets and bolts it while standing on the rail. When he reaches the top end of the mounted rail segment, the next rail to be assembled is pulled up with a rope hoist.
The last rail segment has to be cut to length before it is mounted. After the last segment has been riveted in place, the entire rail has been completely mounted.
